Saturday AM Cartoons

Undead Pleasures
Saturday AM Cartoons // 12.06.14

Welcoming the end of 2014 with a few more weeks of regular Saturday AM Cartoons. I'll likely be creating these with less regularity in the new year. The time I won't be drawing on Saturday mornings will be reserved for:

1 - Not ignoring friends and family on Saturday morning.

2 - Avoiding anxiety on Saturday morning.

3 - Pursuing any hobby that doesn't look like my day job on Saturday morning.

Happy New Year, web-based-log reader.

Norma Jean // Gallus Gallus Domesticus

A bit of fun will be arriving from the printer this week in the form of a 2015 calendar for The Gentle Barn, an organization that rescues and rehabilitates farm animals in need of help.

I was tasked with designing a series of frames to spotlight twelve of the most colorful personalities on the farm, all shot by the amazing Jeff Minton.

I'll post a link when these go on sale.

Reach Out /// Out Now

Aaaaaaaannnnnnnnnd there it is. The Reach Out EP is now available in all those places one would assume: iTunes, Spotify, and this particular web-based-log.

Go on and get that. And keep an eye out for a run of limited edition cassettes (YES, you boring pile of carbon and sadness, WITH download codes).

Saturday AM Cartoons // 11.22.14

This month, the Saturday AM Cartoon series turns a year old. I'm not sure how long these will keep going for, but they've kept me loose and practically unable to get too precious about anything. And really, anything that gives you the ability to create work without the crushing anxiety of appearing cool is probably for the best.

If I have any plans to compile them in some way, you'll find out about that here.

Saturday AM Cartoons // 10.25.14

I don't really have a grading system for months of Saturday AM cartoons. But I think you can consider any month that features the disembodied left arm of Glen Danzig a screaming success.

Carrie Evans Photography

I was recently asked for some help to update the logo & graphic materials for my friend and Arizona-based photographer Carrie Evans.

Professionally, the mark was built first and foremost for the corners of lovely images. Selfishly, it was also built for the possibility of letterpress business cards.

Turned out well, yesssss? You can check out her portfolio here.

A quick relocation is in progress this month. Please excuse the lack of posting on the new work front.

Have no fear. After the over-filtered cross-country Instagram adventure, I'll be back to poorly executing illustrations in no time.

Take care.

Miami (Skull) Machine

This month, biker tank tops became available through the Society6 store. This made me think, "what would be the most appropriate design for the most inappropriate style of t-shirt known to man?"

The answer to that question is now available in print and on those aforementioned shirts.

The creative chaos continues.

Following a viewing of the intriguing documentary, Jodorowsky's Dune, a miniseries within the project popped up this month. If you're looking for bizarre inspiration/nightmares, this web-based-log highly recommends a stopover in that man's brain.

Au Revoir, Parapluie

Based on the famous 1922 Parapluie-Revel poster by Leonetto Capiello, this one lives in a small Moleskine notebook that is now in the hands of a good friend who will be heading home to Europe later this year.

Bonne chance (or buena suerte) to her, and prints are now available to you. Visit the shop at Society6 for this one and many others.

Reach Out EP // Packaging

While there has been no shortage of album covers for DC-based power pop outfit Classified Frequency on this web-based-log, the latest is definitely my favorite.

Obviously the moment you saw "Reach Out" on the cover, your first question was: "oh, you mean a cover of Cheap Trick's contribution to the 1981 Heavy Metal soundtrack?"

Why yes, astute music nerd, it is. And that's why I did my best to out-Rick Nielsen Rick Nielsen for this cover.

I'll add a link to the EP when I have the release date. In the meantime, just deal with this:
